First one to break loses.
Quarterback Ares Lassiter doesn’t lose—not on the field, not in the class room, and definitely not to the guy who took his girl. So when a stupid dare starts on the bus ride home, he hesitates, but not for long. It’s just a silly challenge. A joke. A game of “gay chicken” to see who pulls away first.
Only, neither one does.
When their mouths meet, Ares is aware of everything—the weight of the moment, the fact that he should pull back—and the way he doesn’t want to. Not because he refuses to lose, but because he doesn’t want the kiss to end.
By the time the coach’s voice cuts through the tension and forces them apart, something has already shifted. Ares can’t shake the feeling, can’t stop thinking about it—and worse, he’s not sure he wants to.
One dare. One kiss. No going back.
